Empowering our community's seniors to age in place
Marty Schooley founded Senior Helping Hands, LLC in 2018, after 12 years working in Long Term Care (LTC) Memory Care as a Social Worker.
Over the course of her professional career, it became clear to her that there were not enough resources in the community to allow our seniors to age in place in the comfort of their own homes.
Qualified Care
Marty has a Bachelor’s Degree in Community Service with a Family Systems Concentration, is a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP), and a trained Grief Facilitator.
Unlike many care givers, Marty has experience coordinating with Physical, Occupational and Speech Therapists to ensure clients are completing recommended exercises and rehabilitation programs.
She is well versed in the creation and implementation of need charts, journals, daily routines and emergency forms. Most importantly, Marty works diligently to understand client preferences to provide compassionate, individualized care.
Walking in Your Shoes
Marty’s own mother was diagnosed with dementia while she was working in LTC, and she quickly found herself acting as the Medical Durable Power of Attorney for her mother’s Health Care. She experienced what it was like to be a family member searching for reliable help to keep a loved one safely in their home as long as possible. She met many obstacles while trying to find reliable, compassionate care that she could be confident in, and she learned a lot along the way.
This inspired Marty to do something that would make this situation easier for others. She decided she could use her retirement to make a difference in the lives of seniors while working with the population she loved, in the communities she calls home.
